Outstanding pacing, variety and musicianship
A year ago in Kansas City, we saw Charlotte Hornets and caught him at the fabulous Peabody Opera House in St. Louis. The superb show's only flaw is the choice to set the volume at two or three times what the auditorium needed. I suppose modern audiences are deaf from attending loud concerts. Sidemen of Hornets are cream-of-the crop, and his guest artists were also outstanding. The show ended at 10, and I was surprised by how well-paced the two-hour concert was. There were a lot of unsold seats, so everyone with a balcony seat was "upgraded" to the Orchestra level downstairs. We ended up way over on the side, not happy about that.
